West South Grafton bridge repairs are underway after Taylor County awarded the contract to L P Morgan for 1200 dollars. Eighty new floor boards are installed and drive planks are being secured. County court considers renewal of wind braces and other repairs.
Leonard Cornett, a 50 year old father of 13, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter by the Letcher Circuit Court jury and sentenced to 15 years in the state reformatory at LaGrange for the death of Claude Holcomb. The verdict followed a defense claim that Holcomb threatened him before the September 16 shooting at a moonshine operation.

Hinton authorities report Curtis Thurston, a four year old hunter, missing for 27 hours in Summers county. A searching party found him unharmed beneath a tree with his shotgun in his lap. He said he stayed awake through the night in the rain to ward off wildcats.
