Small Boys Try to Wreck Train Forewarned by Foreman
A section foreman found four large angle bars across a track ten minutes before passenger train 51 from Wheeling could crash. Two youths, Thomas Symonds 14 and Joseph Pers 15, were arrested at the First Ward school and face felony charges. If convicted they face the Industrial School rather than the penitentiary. Two bars were placed at one spot and two at another, planned to derail the train at a curve below Fetterman. Authorities say both youths confessed. A hearing is set for Wednesday morning.
