Mrs Edana Summers sews for 210 state troopers in the Capitol basement repairing seat covers shirts and zippers. She handles buttons collars button holes and alterations while troopers mail uniforms for repair. The state even pays postage and most repairs arrive in days.
Paris reports that six foreign ministers agreed dismantling of German industry should largely halt. Dean Acheson Ernest Bevin and Robert Schuman reportedly moved toward allowing the new West German republic to join the Council of Europe. Details on conditions for ending dismantling remain unresolved in the three power talks that opened yesterday.
In Pittsburgh and beyond, American electrical firms face a labor split between the Left Wing United Electrical Workers and CIO backed opposition. General Electric will deal only with UE unless forced by the NLRB, Westinghouse remains neutral and will engage with both groups, and four small locals in New York and New Jersey have already signed contracts with the new CIO group.

President Truman stated there will be no change in gold value while he is in office and called any such move a categorical NO. NORFOLK VA Federal Judge Albert V Bryan ordered Lawrence A Markham to St Elizabeths hospital for mental observation in the bludgeon death of six year old Shirley Murray. Markham a father of five faced a sex offense charge from Newport News in 1933 and escaped from Eastern State hospital. FBI and Norfolk police traced him after an abandoned car near the naval base led to the discovery of the child’s body. Police noted no evidence of sexual assault.
The Princeton jury weighing the Albert R. Conner murder charge resumed deliberations at 9 30 am after failing to reach a verdict late yesterday. Conner 28 is accused of fatally beating 64 year old Canada H Shrewsbury a retired coal miner.
Taylor county miners joined workers across the Monongah division of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad in returning to work today. All mines contacted by the Monongah division headquarters resumed operations. About 3,000 hopper cars were ordered, roughly the usual amount, and roughly 50 train and engine crews along with several clerks and yard staff are being recalled as needed. Mining families, long without pay since September 19, welcomed the restart.
On Saturday November 12 Grafton designates Library Tag Day to fund operating costs for the Grafton Public Library and for new books. The Eastern Star Women’s club assigns a committee including Miss G Minnette Watkin s co chair man Mrs Francis and other members to supervise. Donations accepted via Mrs Ida Williams or Mrs Susan Monroe. The library has 3 224 books and 812 registered borrowers. New rental shelf titles include Cheaper by the Dozen Father of the Bride and Big Fish Herman.

Four firemen were killed and four injured when two engines collided near Pimlico race track in northwest Baltimore while racing to an alarm. Injured: William Flanigan 40, Harry Burke 58, Joseph H. Greiser, Kenneth Medley 32. Fire was a small field blaze and quickly extinguished.

Sheriff Roy W. Jolliffee said Richard Durst, 23, of Zanesville, Ohio, a line mechanic for the Ohio Power company, was electrocuted yesterday when he brushed a switch on a 66000 volt line near Cresaps, five miles south of Moundsville.
