Morgan Firm Made Millions In 1930 31 Securities Profits Revealed

Washington May 29 J P Morgan and Company's senate investigators record shows the firm earned nearly 10 million dollars from sales and underwriting of securities in 1930 and 1931. The partners paid only 48 thousand dollars income tax, hinting at deductions for capital losses and running overhead. The bank emphasized an increase in underwriting over 1929, despite the year being a downturn.

Parsons May 29 Officers of the Citizens Conservation Corps near Bretz notified J Harold Felton commander of the American Legion that the entire camp contingent joins the Legion and Boy Scouts in observing Memorial Day. The parade will pass the American Legion hall then to the cemetery to decorate veterans' graves with flowers and flags before returning to town.

Miss Mary McElroy abducted while bathing in the Country Club district was freed Sunday after her father H. P. McElroy city manager and Henry F. McElroy Jr. delivered $30,000 in cash on a rural Wyandotte county road near the state line. The kidnappers promised release within two hours.

Youth Paralyzed After Lake Dive Tragic Fall

Morgantown reports a 19 year old University of West Virginia student Robert Poole of Clay was paralyzed after a shallow Lake Linn dive. His head struck a rock causing a fractured vertebrae and doctors say recovery chances are slim. Poole, a junior in the arts college, was attempting to “water to tide the waves” when struck by the boat’s wake.
