NLRB rules on union shop elections in certain states
The National Labor Relations Board ruled it cannot hold union shop elections in 19 states with bans or rules against the policy. The order, issued by the board, states Taft Hartley Act limits federal restrictions on state laws prohibiting compulsory unionism. It notes the act bans the closed shop but allows a union shop if a majority votes for it. States listed include Arizona Arkansas Colorado Delaware Florida Georgia Iowa Kansas Maine Massachusetts Nebraska North Carolina North Dakota South Dakota Tennessee Texas Virginia Wisconsin. The case involved a challenge from the Retail Clerks International Association over a union shop election for Giant Food stores in the District of Columbia and Virginia.

Lewis Rejects Operators Letter For New Meeting

Rip-Rapping Work Underway On Tygart River Bank
