A Fairmont father Grey searches for Nellie Grey who left home weeks ago. Police say Nellie and her lover were arrested for unlawful cohabitation after a raid on their residence. The couple wish to marry and plan to pay fines to gain release from county jail.
Carl Michael, a mescnant at Medley West Virginia, arrested in Cumberland for allegedly passing forged checks at Keyser and First National Bank. He is to be turned over to West Virginia authorities.
Division officials of the Baltimore and Ohio railroads issued instructions for cleaners and fumigators of passenger cars. Cars must be thoroughly cleaned after each trip and fumigated monthly at Mt. Clare or Zanesville. Emigrant cars receive special disinfection. infested cars require burning and replacement of seat trimmings. Water coolers must be flushed and disinfected after trips. Glass testing and fitting appliances are highlighted by G. W. Loar & Co.
Taxpayers are warned to settle all real estate taxes for 1906 before the first Monday in June or they will be listed as delinquent. Sheriff A Meane cites Acts 1904 to enforce collection. Also mention urges support for Tygart Valley Brewing Co. product when asking for beer.
Friday evening the West Side School closes with a strong program featuring scholars, an address by Prof. W. R. Gorby, superintendent, and appearances by Reve. Reece and Ford. The program includes songs, orchestral pieces, and a graduation-like presentation with certificates. tickets and reservations available at Red Cross pharmacy for ten cents, admission free otherwise.
In Barbour county circuit court Judge Holt finds Commissioner L N B Paugh guilty of misconduct for agreeing to grant liquor licenses in exchange for campaign contributions. The contract allegedly funded by Charles W Snodgrass led to several Berryburg license applications. Paugh is removed from office as a result.
The closing exercises at the city high school featured a gold medal contest with recitations orations essays debates and a final for the question on whether the United States government should own and operate railroads. Judges led by A J Withgon selected Elizabeth Marple George Blaney Edna Grinan and Jerry Rogers as top performers.
Ion Johnson was arrested on loitering charges and had a morning hearing before Mayor McClung. He received a $3 fine plus costs. unable to pay, he was jailed and ordered to work off the fine on the streets. Faust's City Meat Market advertises fresh and dried meats at low prices on Main Street. Loer's photo postcards feature the latest fad in photoraphy.
The county court met in special session Thursday morning to address several license matters not settled at the previous session. Many saloon and other license applications remained, and the court spent much of the day in formal business.

Constable Dean arrested A F Martin and H B Smith after they hired a rig from Corrobhere livery and proceeded to drink beer and whisky on a trip toward Pittsburg. Martin pleaded guilty and was fined 290 dollars. both men remain jailed awaiting possible release by obtaining funds.
Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce members arrived by special train in Grafton before 7 am, greeted by a small Board of Trade committee. They toured the city briefly, spoke with merchants, and proceeded at 8:30 for a Baltimore & Ohio line trip toward Wheeling, leaving the city with limited ceremonies due to early arrival.
Pat McDonough a glass worker was arrested Wednesday night on drunkenness charges and held until Thursday morning. After a hearing before the mayor he was fined $4 and managed to raise funds to avoid forced labor on the streets. The notice mentions Kenny Machine & Supply Co. with a reference line.
Henry Mitchell a Black resident known in the city quarrels with the Sherwood hotel proprietor on Latios street. He was kicked out after disorder, struck, and later fined five dollars plus costs by Mayor McClung in police court. He admitted carrying a pop bottle and denying intoxication, but used offensive language. The mayor warned him to behave, stay away from the hotel, and face arrest if he returns unruly.
A deal was closed by T Hill Marshall formerly of Grafton, now in Washington DC, to take ownership of the State Laundry from T W Helionimus. Marshall, with years in the laundry business, plans to assume control within ten days after arriving in the city.
A badly decomposed body thought to be R. B. Robinette of Kidge ley West Virginia was found in the Potomes river near Keyeer. A receipt from the Order of Railway Trainmen and merchants was found on him. Robinette had told his wife six weeks ago he was going to New York and nothing more was heard.
