Democracy and tariffs in the 1900s Grafton view
The Grafton Sentinel reports on Democratic rhetoric and policy, contrasting protection with free silver, noting rising prices since 1897, and criticizing turnout at local conventions. It mentions wartime views on the Philippines, labor, and the impact of political divides on industry and shipping. The piece laments low Democratic attendance in 1900.
