Club Owners Plan Suit Over Raid On Supper Club

Morgantown reports that Sanford E. Mason and Ben Lane say they will file civil suits against State Police Sgt. Bunn and others after a Sunday raid on the Cheat Lake Supper Club. Police had tear gas and confiscated gambling gear. a near-panic occurred as patrons fled, with one chorus girl fainting and a patron injured.

Ser Sergeant Admits Slaying at Hamilton Field

Sgt Lyle H Buswell 32 of Vermont admitted to FBI agents that drinking led him to kill 44 year old WAF Sgt Fairy E Decker at Hamilton Air Base near San Rafael California. He said he had no motive and denied rape, claiming he disarranged her clothing to fake a sex crime. Richwood Band Tours This Area Visits Grafton Dam

The Richwood high school band of about 75 students visited Cozy Rest for two days and nights on Friday and Saturday during the Morgantown tournament period. They were hosted by proprietor Mrs. H K Debendarfer and guided by band master Mr. Pratt with two lady chaperons.

Graduation list announced by Grafton High principal

The Grafton High principal released a tentative graduates list for 122 seniors. Reverend Harold C. Metzner will deliver commencements at Grafton High on May 31 and Flemington High on May 30. Metzner, pastor at Trinity Union Methodist Church Providence, is a native Gafton man and brother of Mrs. Paul P. Warden.

Brush Fire Endangers Residences Above Addison Street

A fierce hillside brush fire spread across the cemetery hill above Addison street threatening three homes before Graf ton Volunteer Fire Department halted it around 1 45 p m by fighting strong winds. The incident began before noon and burned toward Addison street, prompting containment efforts by local firefighters. In other news, the Supreme Court upheld the contempt conviction of Eugene Dennis, chief secretary of the American Communist party.

Waller Held For Grand Jury Action

Waller was held for grand jury action after being charged with counterfeiting and opening with intent before Magistrate Ona Jefferys. On March 24 he was arrested by Constable Ray Osborne on Bud Pressler’s complaint over a $25 check bearing Pressler’s name. Waller was represented by Attorney Francis L. Warder, with Prosecuting Attorney B. Bord for the state. He was released on bond posted by officers.

Two Autos Station Damaged In Beaumont Mishap

A motorist, Steve Marinchett of Beaumont, will face a 4 p.m. city police court hearing after his 1936 car ran west on Route 50 then damaged a Dent Wiles service station and a 1948 car owned by Ralph Weaver. The incident caused about 50 dollars in damages at the station.
