Trial of Doheny Opens in Bribery Case
Washington March 12 The trial of Edward L. Doheny wealthy oil operator charged with bribery began today after Justice Hitz overruled a plea of double jeopardy. The government alleges Doheny paid Secretary Albert B. Fall 100000 in 1921 for a reserve lease while Fall was convicted last October of accepting the bribe. A panel of 26 men and women was chosen for the jury.
