Rescue of 21 Men From Stricken Norfolk Tanker
Twenty one crewmen were rescued today from the stricken motor ship Norfolk off Beaufort Inlet. Coast Guardsmen used a breeches buoy as waves battered the grounded tanker while fog and heavy seas hampered operations. Three men were injured, including the electrician swept under a rescue line.

Dam Area Improvements Under Way At Grafton Dam
Improvements including picnic tables benches and landscaping on the observation area at Grafton Dam were approved last year by the U S Army Engineers and are expected to begin soon. Bus Driver Named Defendant in $10,000 Suit
Taylor County Circuit Court recently filed a $10,000 damage suit naming Ira Morris about 50 of Route 119 former bus driver for the Taylor County Board of Education as defendant. The suit stems from the death of Alice D Knotts in April 1946 when the girl, daughter of Forrest E Knotts, was killed by a passing automobile after stepping off a school bus returning to her Haymond area home. Forrest B Knotts, plaintiff and administrator of the deceased’s estate, alleges negligence by the driver.
