Four Grafton Girls Named To Attend Strawberry Festival In Early June
Four Grafton girls were named to attend the Buckhannon Strawberry Festival in early June at a Grafton Woman's Club meeting. Emily Malone will be the delegate from the Woman's Club, Alfreda Gull represents the Taylor County 4-H leaders, Janice Haskins is the Grafton Business Girls representative, and Nancy Rohrbough goes as Kiwanis club delegate. The event also featured a skit Night Shall Pass directed by Ruth Batten with students Elaine Gifford Ted Klauenberg and Arthur Riddle, plus instrumental numbers by Dallas Beck Bill Courtney. A junior Miss of the month, Nola Sway, was introduced and gifted. A supplies drive for war-torn areas collected items to be sent via Andrews church and St Paul’s Methodist. The Wilson club encouraged World Day of Prayer services. The piece notes local women’s clubs tracing origins to 1868 and mentions Merritt Feather announcing spring concert campaign for 1949-50 with trips to Fairmont and Elkins to attend performances by The Trapp Family and Columbia Concert Trio, with limited seats.
