Upper Midwest cooled air Friday night triggered violent thunderstorms and a tornado near Luverne Minnesota causing property damage but no deaths. Hail shattered windows while tornado warnings were lifted by midnight. Other tornadoes were observed in Nebraska South Dakota and Kansas. Cooler air spread to the coast south to South Carolina with scattered showers in the Rockies and plains. Temperature contrasts ranged from 102 in Colorado to 54 in San Francisco.
