Debate on Ambition Divides Beta Sigma Phi Members
Alpha Mu chapter Beta Sigma Phi held a meeting at Mrs. Virgil Rohrboughs home on Yates avenue featuring a debate on whether ambition has harmed more than helped. Miss Virginia Rosier and Mrs Harriett Harmap presented the debate under program chair Mrs Frank Shaw. A cancer drive report by Mrs Kenneth Daugherty followed, with plans for next year. The session wrapped with a picnic planned for Morris Park in July and a dessert course served to numerous members.

Coal Dumped On Highways Sparks Local Tension
Weeks ago coal from area strip mines was dumped on highways. The caravan planned a return with five times as many men. Owens said he would be met by himself, two deputies, two state policemen, and all the constables he could round up. He claimed Lewis County has almost no union mines and that if the union does not want to work, that is their business. All men here want to work and will ensure that right.
