Ford and CIO-UNW reach new wage and pension deal
Detroit June 27 Ford Motor Co and the CIO United Automobile Workers Union agreed to a seven cent hourly wage rise and a pension plan for about 110000 production workers. The plan costs Ford about 200 million dollars annually and adds more than 15 cents per hour in overall benefits. The union rejected the industry pattern offer of 1.5 cents raise plus 3.5 cents for six paid holidays, seeking the pension inclusion. The contract covers at least three years.
