Heart Balm Suit Won't Reach Jurors For Day In Preston Co
Kingwood, June 26. The case of David Shaffer against George A. Caton for 50000 damages for alienating the affections of the former's wife was given to the jury shortly before noon. A parade of defense witnesses took the stand today in the alienation suit brought by Shaffer of Clifton Mills against neighbor Caton alleging Caton stole the love of Nellie Shaffer. The case is not expected to reach a verdict tomorrow. The opening statement said Shaffer would prove the couple lived in harmony until 1931 and separated over alleged immoral relations between Mrs. Shaffer and Caton. Defense contends the couple did not separate and had been seen together in Uniontown Pa. within a month. Continued on page seven.
