A weather forecast notes considerable cloudiness with scattered showers and thunderstorms today and tonight. Highs reach the 80s with a low in the 60s. Tuesday trends toward sunshine and cooler conditions. Recent readings show a 11 am temperature of 82 to 83 degrees and a 7 am reading of 73. Tygart Dam reported 92 yesterday and 73 last night.
The Taylor County Chapter of the American Red Cross appointed Mrs. Rufus Holden of 216 Walnut Street as secretary. She will work Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays 1 30 to 4 p m starting July 1, handling home service work and emergencies when called. Funds limit full-time office hours but the chapter aims to serve the community more effectively with a secretary in the office.
A Tokyo based Communist radio stated that Reds will fight to defend the Korean armistice agreement, opposing the U.S. decision to mirror a military buildup in Korea. The station broadcast round the clock statements by Red leaders in China and Korea, blaming the United States for all incidents.
Drought conditions in the Grafton area were described as serious with no immediate rainfall in sight to ease farm and garden crop stress. Washington reports flood disasters across the Midwest with Minnesota and neighboring states hit by high water. Four dead include two teens and the Lovejoys who died rescuing others near Hastings. In Philadelphia, teens face homicide charges for an ambush killing of a man on his porch, with three others tied to the plot and two incorrigible.

Faber died when an automobile carrying four teens collided with his car near Pocataligo on U S Route 21, about 25 miles northwest of Charleston.
