Two Highway Crashes Hurt Eleven In Three Areas
Charleston reports two separate highway crashes injuring eleven people. In Parkersburg eight were hurt in a downtown collision. In nearby Charleston three Beckley residents, Paul Thrush and family, were injured when Thrush's car hit a house trailer being removed from an embankment. Johnny Ho age seventeen and Howard Hill age fourteen, both of Steubenville Ohio, sustained serious injuries in the Parkersburg incident.

A barefoot six year old girl Audry McCusker saved sixty tenants at a South Boston housing project when a fire broke out. She ran to a fire box in her nightgown, drew attention from radio patrolmen who activated the alarm.

Four Hurt As Auto Struck By Passenger Train At Newburg Crossing
Four people sustained serious injuries when a five passenger coupe was struck on the Newburg crossing by a passenger train. Driver Wallace L. Coole, 23, of Tulanes ton, and three young passengers, 12 to 13 years old, were hurt and taken to Grafton City hospital. Coole described approaching the crossing at about 11 45 p m and failing to see a train light before the collision. The impact occurred in the center of the right side, destroying the car.
