Endorsement Shows Value of Newspaper Advertising
An advertising test by United Cigar Stores demonstrates newspaper space as a strong merchandising tool. The campaign on the Pacific coast drew 200,000 new customers in May and after May 24 the policy spread nationwide, adding around 100,000 customers in the first week. Savings from ending pamphlet form advertising are estimated at about 3000 yearly, portion of which funds more newspaper space.
