Labor Hopes 10 Get Veto in Pennsylvania
In Harrisburg on June 5, unionists from CIO AFL and mine workers gathered at the state capitol to press Governor James to veto five labor bills. The measures would expand employer bargaining rights, ban sit down strikes, alter the 1937 workmen’s comp law, let courts issue injunctive relief in disputes, and curb wage checkoffs without worker consent. Mine locals joined the protest by taking a holiday to add to the delegations.
