Health Commissioner N H Dyer said the department is in close touch with an infantile paralysis outbreak at a Greenbrier county summer camp where one death has been reported. Two cases are from Camp Shaw Mi Del Eva. William Mason Mayfield, 9, of Tuscaloosa Alabama died after hospital admission. Pat Beard III of Charleston is in an iron lung at Morris Memorial hospital in Milton. Officials urged small groups swim period rest periods and strict sanitation. Sanitarian Boothe reports camp conditions are good. Twenty one more polio cases were reported in West Virginia for the week ending July 23, compared with nine the prior week and two in 1948.

Virginia heiress found dead in Baltimore hotel
The daughter of a prominent Virginia family, Jean McClaurin Watts, 87, of Lynchburg, Va., was found dead yesterday in a Baltimore hotel. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause. A 50-year-old ship's radio operator, Mecom Morris of Columbia, La., was held pending the postmortem but not charged. Detectives said Miss Watts and Morris registered as man and wife at the hotel, then checked in July 18 and were asked to leave two days later.
