First Aid Classes To Be Held Here In Grafton High
Victor L. Brenneman of the American Red Cross will lead a 30 hour First Aid Training Course in room 104 at Grafton High School beginning January 24. The ten evening sessions run 7 to 10 PM. The program includes a six hour accident prevention instructor course on January 29 with portions on home safety. Fourteen people have enrolled, including two from the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, three from the Volunteer Fire Department, and two from the police department.

Charleston January 22 West Virginia chamber officials from at least 14 cities gather in Charleston to map plans opposing a rate increase sought by the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co The Public Service Commission will start hearings Monday and run through the week President W G Thompson of the Montgomery Chamber says he has asked 24 groups to send officials and 14 have replied they will oppose the rate boost with some cities sending legal counsel to the hearings.

2000 Patients Quarantined at Dayton State Hospital
Dayton Ohio January 22 Two thousand patients and employees at the Dayton State hospital are under quarantine for diphtheria. Hospital superintendent Dr Calvin Baker said the quarantine could last up to 30 days. Four inmates died since December 16 from diphtheria, prompting the quarantine of 1700 patients and 300 workers after diphtheria germs appeared in throat cultures of two isolated patients.
