Democrats Gain Four Votes In 56 Convention West Virginia

West Virginia will have 24 delegates at the Democratic national convention next summer, four more votes as a reward for voting for Adlai Stevenson in 1952. Party Chairman D Pitt O’Brien said the Democratic National Committee granted the extra votes, while Republicans will send 16 delegates, unchanged from 1952. The state will send 12 at large delegates and 12 district delegates, with an additional alternate per regular delegate.

Meredith Says He's Not Guilty In Embezzlement Trial

In Wheeling West Virginia on the eleventh day of the trial John W. Meredith 52 a former cashier at the First National Bank of Fairmont testified he made false entries but denied guilt stating the challenged entries were true and good. Character witnesses interrupted testimony as Meredith defended himself against charges of misapplying 516000 in bank funds and offered a blanket denial of wrongdoing.

Trustees of a Mannington will fund to supply books for Mannington High School library received a corporate charter from the secretary of state. The Dr. Phoebia G.
