Moran retires after 52 years with Baltimore and Ohio
William M. Moran, veteran telegraph operator, retires from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad after 52 and a half years of service. He began in 1897 as an engine cleaner at Grafton, moved to relay office in 1898, and rose to telegraphy operator in 1900. His last role was first track operator at D Tower, Grafton, for 36 years. He recalls Spanish American War troops passing through and notes vast changes in motive power and passenger equipment over his career.
