Pure Food Law Takes Effect in West Virginia This Year

The Morgan Town Chronicle notes West Virginia’s new Pure Food Law, signed by Governor Dawson, imposes strict penalties for misbranded or adulterated foods and drugs. Offenders face fines from 50 to 100 dollars per offense, possible 20 to 60 days imprisonment, and costs paid to county treasury. Prosecutors may inspect and seize suspected items, with fees to be paid to the prosecuting attorney. The act aims to shield the public from impure goods, impacting grocers and druggists as the law goes into effect today. Also mentioned are steady real estate value trends in Graf ton, conservative banking, and local notices.
