A sea lion escaped into the New York studio of the CBS TV show this morning, scattering about 100 audience members. The animal roamed the orchestra and stage as host Garry Moore and expert Ivan Sanderson boxed it in within six minutes. The show continued after the incident.

The plane carried 10 crew and 149 passengers en route to Japan. eight Army helicopters aided evacuations to 121st Evac Hospital in Ascom City. Separately a Baltimore and Ohio freight derailment near Oakland Md disrupted Westbound service, delays of up to two hours, crews clearing tracks and rerouting trains as officials investigate cause with no injuries reported.
U S ambassador to the Soviet Union Charles Bohlen arrived from Moscow for routine consultations in Washington and indicated he may soon depart his post as president signals.
A bright sun warmed Grafton from night frost to 47 degrees by late morning. Weather prognosticator predicts continued sun today, but Saturday looks cloudy with rain, turning colder with possible snow.
FBI Director J Edgar Hoover warned Americans not to be deceived by the Communist new look and program. He said Soviet style Communism remains the ideal and the party aims to impose it in the United States. Hoover spoke at Freedoms Foundation ceremonies where he received the organization’s top award of 5000 dollars and a gold George Washington medal.
The White House said the United States regrets Israel’s refusal to withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip and the Gulf of Aqaba. It indicated no U.S. presentation to the United Nations on sanctions will be made until after discussions with Israeli Ambassador Abba Eben and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. The United Nations General Assembly meets this afternoon to address the Middle East crisis.
Eight-year-old Prince Charles and six-year-old Princess Anne ran ahead of the procession to greet Duke of Edinburgh on arrival from Portugal. Queen Elizabeth accompanied them as they stepped onto the stairs, breaking protocol. The scene occurred on a busy royal return with the family anxious to see Philip after four months away.
In Ottumwa Iowa a 33 year old mother Violet Adams and her three week old daughter were held in county jail awaiting arraignment on a bad checks charge. Sheriff Cliff Riley said they were getting along fine in the jail hospital ward with no other inmates allowed near them. Mrs Adams has seven other children.
Charleston report: parental responsibility bill to curb juvenile delinquency passes both chambers with decisive votes. Law allows parents to be liable for damages up to 300 dollars for acts of vandalism by children under 18. Conference committee resolved differences and reinserted the declaration of intent. Introduced in the House by Cols Hugh Bosley and Elizabeth V. Hallanan.
Senator Revercomb of West Virginia continues his Western tour with Lincoln Day observances in the state. At a Randolph County gathering in Elkins he urged substantial cuts in President Eisenhower's $71 billion budget and called for reduced government spending to ensure future national security through sound fiscal policy.
