SIDNEY Iowa February 22 Charles Brown Phelps City Missouri laborer was convicted of manslaughter by a district court jury for the kiss slaying of W J Mawhor a 67 year old Riverton Iowa farmer. Brown said he shot Mawhor in self defense after his daughter Ruby eighteen complained Mawhor made a pass to her while his wife was in a hospital. The court said he would be sentenced in March.
