Clayton Brown a 25 year old fisherman told how he crawled seven miles across rough shore ice after a 40 mile sub zero gale swept him and two companions into Lake Michigan. Twelve Day Old Premature Girl Dies in Philadelphia

Philadelphia February report states Alice Elizabeth Marta eight days old and weighing 12 ounces at birth died after hours in a home incubator improvised by nurse Clara Robinson. Dr. H Lenox Dick noted the baby born three months premature lived longer than expected and long care from the nurse included hourly feeds and a cardboard box incubator. Two Hotel Guests Perish As Fire Sweeps Building

Pittsburg dispatch reports a three story Cross hotel in suburb burned in sub zero weather killing two guests. Mike Pappas aged 50 roomer body recovered from ruins. a second victim named Mike Glinias, 50 believed dead. Three others jumped 20 feet from windows to the icy street after breaking hotel windows with chairs.

Girl Still Unconscious From Monoxide Fumes

In Pittsburgh on February 11 nineteen year old Marie Pasco remained unconscious for a seventh day, critically ill after monoxide fumes killed her family in Ranking suburb. Doctors said she shows little sign of improvement. her father, mother, two brothers, and a sister were buried in a mass funeral service the prior Saturday.

A large crowd is expected at the Moose Home banquet hall tomorrow night as at least 175 Republicans from Taylor and Marion counties gather to hear Herbert E. Vivian Denton a 26 year old publicity representative for Aimee Semple McPherson’s Angelus Temple is recovering at home after taking poison following an argument with her evangelist employer Detective Lieutenant Corliss said Denton claimed loyalty disputes involved Rheba Crawford desocrate pastor at the temple Denton said McPherson pushed her to attempt the act though Roberta Semple denied the accusation.

Small Child Injured in Ringers Accident

Two year old Ray Frederick Miller son of Mr and Mrs Ray A Miller of 18 West Wilford Street was injured yesterday afternoon when his arm became entangled in a ringer. He was taken to Gratton City Hospital for surgical treatment by Dr T W Heironimus Jr and Dr Paul P Warden. After dressing the arm and calming hysteria he was returned home and resting easily this afternoon.

Judge Sommerville Dies At 84 In Ohio County

Attorney Eugene Sommerville of Grafton mourns the death of his cousin Circuitt J. B. Sommerville of Ohio County who passed Saturday afternoon at 84. The jurist served since 1918 in the First district comprising Ohio Hancock and Brooke counties and remained in semi retirement since 1934. A lifelong Democrat, he enjoyed cross party support in elections and was once the Democratic nominee for U S senator from West Virginia.

Rescue of Nine Marooned Men Near Paducah

A government work boat on the Ohio River moving today toward two islets 35 miles upstream from Paducah, Ky. It aims to reach nine marooned men since Friday and is expected to bring them to shore soon with food and fuel.

Anti-Love Code Drafted By College Dean Is Ridiculed

Washington February 11 Representative Josh Lee of Oklahoma challenged an anti love code for college students. He mocked the idea saying since Adam and Eve love remains exempt from legislation. WV liquor stores to close tomorrow for Lincoln birthday

Grafton state liquor dispensary and state stores across West Virginia will close all day tomorrow in observance of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday February 12 a legal holiday. Gas line explosion kills two workers in Hastings

Two men died and two others were seriously injured when a 20-inch gas line exploded near Hastings West Virginia. Officials from Hope Natural Gas said Ire Moore and Charles Brown of Pine Grove were killed instantly. Lester Postlewaite and Joseph Wright, also of Pine Grove, were taken to New Martinsville hospital with serious injuries while repairing a leak about one and a half miles from town.

Lieut Antonio Menendez of the Cuban navy completed a flight across the South Atlantic landing safely at Bathurst West Africa after departing Natal Brazil Sunday night. He left Brazil at 11 10 p m 9 10 p m EB 5 0 and arrived Bathurst at 9 00 p m GMT last night.

Libel Trial Underway In Margiotti Case In Pa

Prosecutor James C. Bane tells jurors the Philadelphia Inquirer article of September 29 substantially claimed Attorney General Charles J. Margiotti and his law partners sought delinquent taxes and exorbitant fees. The charges stem from a libel suit Margiotti filed against the newspaper and two officers, Tyler and Custis, with the case moved from Brookville to Washington County.
