Former Grafton Resident Jasper Powell Dies in Fairmont

Jasper C Powell, longtime Baltimore and Ohio Railroad engineer, died at his daughter’s home in Fairmont last night after an apoplexy. Born in Taylor county about 68 years ago, he worked 40 years for the railroad and retired due to age. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church in Gration, with interment in Biuemont cemetery, under Undertaker Mutgrave & Sons and Frank M Cole.

Funeral of Miss Himmler Largely Attended

The funeral of Miss Himmler, who died at her aunt’s residence on Beech Street, was held at St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church. Dead Engineer at the Throttle of Congressional Limited

Philadelphia February 6. The Congressional Limited train on the Pennsylvania Railroad, running from Washington to New York at 4 PM, derailed into a neck breaking crash in North Philadelphia after the engineer Joseph Tome, age 46 from Newark, N J, was found dead at the throttle. Fireman Harry Michner attempted to warn and halt the train but the engineer had already died. The train made West and North Philadelphia stops before continuing to New York with a substitute engineer aboard.
