Fred L. Fox resigns as state tax commissioner to become a judge on the supreme court of appeals alongside James Riley of Wheeling. Governor Kump may name a successor tonight as Fox comments on his departure with regret. Simple ceremonies planned for the judges’ inauguration, likely tomorrow, per Clerk William B. Matthews.

Seven year old Harvey Mayle of Moatsville route 3 is in Graf fton City hospital with a broken right leg after being struck by an automobile. Hospital staff could not provide details of the accident. He was brought in by his parents. the incident is believed to have occurred in Barbour county outside local state police jurisdiction.
New Jersey officials dismissed a Philadelphia Record report of a twenty one thousand six hundred and fifty dollar goldback cache tied to the Lindbergh ransom, with Governor Hoffman stating no comment and no press conferences planned. Police Superintendent Kimberling backed the denial saying there is nothing to the latest claims and the case remains quiet.

A Detroit observer warned that strikes against General Motors units could shut down the entire auto industry except Ford. If a GM tie-up takes effect by Monday, most of the sector may halt while Ford continues production due to self supplied parts. More than 1100 miners returned to work as loading and cutting wage scales were raised to parity with Williamson.
