Life's Start Provides Clues On Virus Pattern
Life's start continues from page one with living tissue rearranging into a different pattern and becoming alive, even reproducing. A photograph shows a network of molecules, each the size and shape of a wooden match, about one seventy fifthousandth of an inch long and two to three mil months thick, forming the tobacco mosaic virus material, a major crop pest.
Pattern of Molecules Forms Geometric Edge Structure
A descriptive passage compares a flat object assembled from matches to a molecular edge. Each border molecule sits with a regular gap, about a molecule’s width, due to electrical forces. Inside the edge a solid floor forms with a single layer, then a second and third layer stack toward the center, creating pyramids of three matches thick in geometric arrangement.
