Watchman is Found Slain at Guggenheim Lab

Prison guard slain and suspect sought at Parchman
J D Duvall, 55, a carpenter sergeant at the state prison farm, was found slain in his home dining room. His 18 year old daughter Ruth was missing. A negro trusty Charles Shepherd, serving a robbery sentence, is being hunted by bloodhounds with a $300 reward offered by Superintendent L T Fox. Duvall fathered eight children.

Noted Rebel Is Captured in Mexico City
Maximiliano Vigueras insurgent leader, who made two attempts to seize U S Ambassador Dwight W. Morrow, was captured and sent to Mexico City for trial under a new ruling against summary executions. A 5 000 peso reward had been posted by the National Highways Commission for his capture. Vigueras said he surrendered after Portes Gil promised a fair trial for all including insurgents and he planned to meet the state governor to negotiate his surrender.

War cripple slays one of four robbers

Coroner charges Heldman in apparent Canton murder case
Canton Ohio December 28. Coroner T C McQuate filed an affidavit before Justice Donald Smyth charging Wilbur Heldman with murder in the death of his wife Margaret Heldman aged 21. Heldman claims his wife shot herself while their car neared Canton last December 12 and says he will turn himself over to authorities after being questioned by detectives. The case centers on Heldman’s changing story and a prior confession tied to another slaying.
