RACELAND KY December 27 fire destroyed the Raceland American Legion Home. Caretaker Carl Short hidce from the furnace and no fire fighting equipment was available. The post dated about 15 years ago or Howard Post 43 was valued at 40,000 dollars. Post commander W Potter, a Russell physician, carried a small amount of insurance. A gas main break later reduced service across many areas of the city. The United Fuel Gas company propane plant kept service, however, but the break occurred later in the day.

18 Crewmen Saved By Coast Guard
