Four Die In Coast Guard Plane Crash Near Bourne
Four Coast Guard and naval personnel died when a United States Coast Guard plane crashed in a El Paso area mission near Bourne, 30 miles northwest of San Antonio. The crew included Lieut. P. Lyons, Rupert H. Germaine, George C. Latham, and C. H. Peague. The aircraft caught fire midair, veered toward the south to avoid the town, and crashed in a pasture close to the San Antonio Bourne highway. Bodies were badly burned. Peague’s was found later. George E Sinclair of Grafton faces spending the Christmas holiday in Taylor County jail after being unable to pay two fines and costs totaling 21 dollars. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail by Mayor P F Gillispie after arraignment for drunkenness and resisting arrest. Patrolman P Sturm subdued Sinclair in the Recreation at 5 p m yesterday and handcuffed him for transport to jail.
