Hoover Roosevelts debt plan gains mixed congressional praise
Hoover proposes a joint commission with Roosevelt to discuss debt, armament costs, and world economic reform with good standing European nations. The plan signals selective treatment for France and allies until debts are paid, while highlighting ongoing debate over Roosevelt’s role and the administration’s economic strategy amid regional unrest and a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on prohibition enforcement methods. The Argentina plot and Tom Mix retirement add to a tense, broad national picture.
