NRA Blue Eagle will continue to fly after December 31 and a plan to extend reemployment pledges for trades without codes will be announced. The administration intends to prevent uncoded industries from slipping from the program with continued Blue Eagle display and new code planks to gain signatures.
Lyle Daily of Kalamazoo, a central gang member, was sentenced in Marshall circuit court to five to 15 years in the Midian state penitentiary on a charge of armed robbery. The defendant helped abduct and rob Louis E. Brooks, a Marshall manufacturer.
New York December 16 Louis Joseph Vance a well known novelist was burned to death in his East Side apartment early today the fire apparently started after he fell asleep with a lighted cigarette in his hand.
In Columbia Tennessee a 20 year old, Card Cheek, found dead by hanging from a cedar in Glendale after a grand jury refused to indict him for an attempted assault on an 8 year old girl. Sheriff Claude Godwin said the mob activity was carried out quietly. The girl identified Cheek as the suspect. Cheek had been jailed in Pulaski then Nashville for safety. authorities could not trace the anonymous call about the body.
Weston December 16 Mrs Pauline Morrison of Webster Springs has replaced Mrs Clara Gould Barbe as matron at Weston state hospital. The state board of control announced the change. Barbe held the post for five years. Morrison serves on the Webster county Democratic executive committee and the state executive committee of Young Democrats representing the Third District. She is a past president of Webster Springs Woman’s Club and active in local clubs. Continued on page four.

A fishing schooner with a crew of 26 burned near Seal Island Nova Scotia. Seventeen sailors reached safety or were rescued, eight in life boats, two drowned, and seven remained missing. The Danish steamer Lars Kruse aided rescue efforts, and the Arrasus steamer responded from Shelburne to assist.

New York December 16 The stock market faced a vigorous bear drive with prices dropping one to three points before limited support. The selling spree lasted about half an hour, featuring the session’s heaviest volume. Transfers totaled around 900000 shares as the market closed heavy.
Winter and summer clashed on the weather map as Maine faced frigid air while Texas baked under extreme heat. Leesburg Va December 16 The commonwealth of Virginia asked the death penalty for George Crawford a negro on trial for slaying Mrs Agnes Boeing Sisley a Middleburg sportswoman The request was made in Loudoun county circuit court by Commonwealth attorney John Galleher who testified Crawford said he expected to die for the slaying Three hours of argument equally divided between state and defense followed after Judge James L McLemore instructed the jury Galleher left the formal argument to his associates
New domestic gold was worth $34.01 an ounce as the government boosted expenditures beyond $50,000. About $15,000 aided domestic miners while the remainder funded foreign markets to lift commodity prices under President Roosevelt. A Seattle robber fired three shots at his target and struck a cash register button before fleeing.
McKeesport teenager Melon Richey heads to Miami to compete in the women’s endurance aviation contest hoping to surpass the 8 days 16 hours record. Marsalis, current record holder, invited Miss Richey to fly with her. Viola Gentry was ill and unable to participate.

Dr Paul P Warden showed considerable improvement in his condition today his father Dr A R Warden reported He was seriously ill at his Maple Avenue home after a surgical knife pierced his left calf while treating a patient The wound caused infection and a high fever Anti tetanus serum was given and doctors expect faster recovery after drainage of the wound today.
Yvonna award a 34 year old Inglewood woman, accused of killing Dr Leonard Siever, an art patron, reportedly confessed on police direction after stopping a man on an Inglewood street and shouting I killed D Siever. Detective Lt Thom Collins transported her to Pasadena where she refused further statements. She said Siever had double crossed her and that they knew each other for eight years.
W. O. Bolin road supervisor seeks state board approval for seven CWA road projects including sections near Boothsville and along Routes 56 250 and 50. A proposed relocation from Route 50 to Hepzibah church would shorten travel and cross a Mor row meadow with right of way donation offered. Over 260 men work on these county road projects.
