Postmaster James T. Murphy announced the local Post Office will stay open until 6 p m Saturday, instead of noon, to handle heavy Christmas mail. The extended hours aim to insure delivery of Christmas packages by December 25.
Graf'qn Junior Chamber of Commerce members will assist Salvation Army street collections tomorrow in the county. Camden Uh, president, said crews are assigned to times and locations for the event to aid needy families at Christmas. The city sound truck will be operated by John Sayre with the city's consent.
At Latrobe street two local women Pauline Mahoney of Grafton and Parkersburg and Pauline Biffle of Warder avenue were charged with loitering and resisting arrest and fighting and resisting arrest respectively. Mayor C O King ordered fines totaling $10 for the two counts. Police records note the altercation occurred late at night with officers Howard and Bob on patrol.
Funeral services for Sarah Jane Sloan 85 a resident of 104 West Washington street will be held Monday at 1 30 p m from Bartlett funeral home with the Rev K E Richardson officiating Interment will be in Bluemont cemetery She was born June 23 1859 in Preston county daughter of Basil L and Elizabeth Sypolt Moats widow of Joseph J Sloan Surviving children include Joseph George John F Sloan Mrs Mary Freeman and Mrs Brooks Fitzwater all of Grafton One brother Christopher Moats of Rowlesburg 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren Also surviving are numerous relatives and friends
