New High School Gymnasium And Field House Approved
Legislative leaders push a $20 million public works project in West Virginia to fund a two story gymnasium and field house at the high school. Architect Carleton C. Wood of Clarksburg drew plans a 100 by 80 foot structure with brick inner walls from the South Side school and materials from a Grafton high school addition. Superintendent Lloyd L. Kansas City reports James A. Reed former U S senator said he obtained a marriage license to wed Nell Q Donnelly the woman he represented as her attorney after her sensational 1931 kidnapping. The ceremony planned after dinner with Federal Judge John C Pollock to officiate. Reed is reported as 72 and Donnelly 43. Donnelly divorced Paul F Donnelly in 1932. Reed's first wife Laura Olsteen Reed died in 1932.

Four Freed In Fairmont Liquor Case at Elkins
In Elkins on December 14 a federal court jury acquitted prominent attorney Jackson W. Blair and three others in the Fairmont liquor conspiracy case, while six were convicted. The freed include John Trader Tony Dominco and George Perkins. the convicted include Joe Pacitto John Masse of Monongah Martin Burgoff Ben Dorsey Arthur Jones and Sam Tedesco of Fairmont. Nunzio Camilleri pleaded guilty. Three were acquitted by directed verdicts and three were not brought to trial among the 17 indicted. Prosecution alleged Blair accepted $60 to help protect canning liquor from Pennsylvania into Marion county. Blair testified he took the money to trap prohibition agents.

Girl Dies In Fire While Guest Of France's Parents
Pittsfield Mass December 14. The burned body of Miss Burns a 20 year old Troy New York woman was found today in the ruins of the Star Realty Company block on North street. She was to be married today at Shepherdstown New York and had been visiting the parents of her fiancé Nelson La Fontaine who was carried from the building unconscious by firemen. Seven lodging tenants on upper floors were helped down by ladders. Four including La Fontaine were admitted to a hospital for inhalation. The fire is believed to have started in a dancing school on the second floor of the four story brick building and the cause is unknown.
