Eden Edens Held Without Bail In Soap Scam
Charleston December 13 Magistrate Chase P Loury held Howard Edward Edens Jr 31 without bail for grand jury on charges of failing to fulfill orders for scarce soap items he advertised for sale Edens described as formerly of Blue Creek recently of Charleston and lately of Leon Mason county He was named in at least 24 complaints for cashing checks for soap orders never delivered He sponsored the ad under the non existent Process Soap and Supp Company claiming delivery was hampered by coal and transportation shortages.

Baby Shadyn Ann Ball died in Akron Ohio on Tuesday at 9 30 pm at age one. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Bartlett Funeral home at 2 pm Reverend O O Mills officiating. Interment was in Woodsdale cemetery. The infant was the only child of Russell E Ball and Rosemary Sheets Ball with Herman Ball and Roy H Sheets as grandparents.
