War labor draft reforms widen base for critical programs
The plan seeks to lure registrants away from essential posts and mobilize others to meet wartime labor needs. It notes limited impact on men over 37 and women, whose roles have formed the draft-free backbone of production, with 300000 more workers required for key programs.
Congress delays teeth for WMC rules to rely on volunteers
The statement argues that without enforceable provisions, WMC regulations will remain nonbinding and rely solely on voluntary compliance. It suggests Congress must add compelling enforcement to ensure effective implementation.
