Hampden Maine December 11 three dancers died as a blaze consumed the Paradise dance hall during a marathon contest. Survivors suffer frost bite and burns as wind and blizzard raged. John H Holt Dies Noted West Virginia Lawyer Huntington

Huntington December 11 John H Holt 73 prominent West Virginia attorney and former gubernatorial candidate died after long illness He was active in Democratic politics for over 50 years and son of Judge Homer A Holt He was born 1860 educated at Randolph Macon College UVA Georgetown and Yale practicing in Wheeling and Huntington including the U S Supreme Court He ran for governor in 1896 and Supreme Court of Appeals judge but was not elected He married Mina Wheeling in 1886 and had four children

Adrian Bank Holdup Pair Captured After Loot Heist

Buckhannon reports a bank robbery at Adrian seven miles away with $1300 stolen. Two well dressed men fled in a red coupe carrying the assistant cashier by force. One robber died, shot by bank cashier Hill Stump as they fled. The living suspect Lee Tiasitins, 20, Detroit, claimed no last name for his companion, while the dead man was named John Malick of Detroit. Money found on both killers, Haskins taken to Upshur jail, body sent to Buckhannon morgue.

Four killed and three injured as a train crashes into an auto amid a blinding snowstorm. The disaster occurred in Pennsylvania as winter’s first widespread snow hit the nation.
