Elmia and Leo Summers, two of seven men who tunneled from Philippi jail, hid at a Needmore home but attracted attention at a Corder's Crossing filling station. They admitted tired of prison and surrendered to Constable LV Wrightie, then were returned to jail by Sheriff J H Marsh. The other five fugitives remained at large.
