Fire yesterday afternoon destroyed the road house at Smiths Park two miles north of Philippi on route 250. Loss estimated at 7000 including building stock and fixtures. The building was owned by J Herbert Smith and leased to Karl Nestor and Waldo O Neal who owned the stock and fixtures. Fire likely originated from a flue from an apartment underneath the roadhouse where Nestor lived.
