Early 1938 crop payments to reach farmers this winter
Agriculture department officials said benefit payments under the 1938 crop program would be distributed this winter and spring, about 500 million dollars in total. Clarksburg December 3 West Virginia hunters closed a three day deer season with the kill already surpassing last year s figure. The conservation commission said the kill topped 400 with at least 152 more venison seekers. First day totals showed at least 253 bucks felled in 11 open counties. One hunter died Le Honk 20 of near Lee Hampshire county fell from a stump and discharged his gun. Exceptional deer included a 200 pound buck with 18 points in Preston county and a 300 pound buck in Monongalia county.
