Deny Request to Allow Gas Price Boost
Charleston November 24 The Public Service Commission denied West Virginia Utilities Company petition for higher gas and water rates at Morgantown and other towns. It set the present fair value of the company’s property at 700000 dollars noting depleted gas reserves now yield only five percent of output. Net earnings for 1924 were about 119960 dollars, roughly 17 percent on the current valuation, and the commission ruled that proper expense adjustments and amortization would justify a fair return without increasing current rates.
