New Day Tank Boosts Tygart Valley Glass Plant Output
Charles C. Meyer notes in the Commoner Glassworker that the Tygart Valley Glass Co of Grafton West Virginia has added a second New Day tank alongside its 12 pot furnace. Cut ware production has fallen to small levels with only two cutters on payroll. Four new lines expand gas output, including a TK colonial design and imitation cut. A new catalog of these latest productions is ready. Since starting blast in 1907 the plant has operated continuously, with only holiday stops or glass shortages causing downtime. Meanwhile the remaining stock at the Empire Glass Company's Graf ton works has been sold and is being shipped. there is no clear plan to open that operation soon. SEVERAL MINERS KILLED. Springfield Mt November 28 A cage loaded with miners at the Devereux mine north of the city was sent through the top works at 8 30 this morning and the cage wrecked at the bottom of the pit.
