A Taylor County general teachers meeting at 9 30 a m Tuesday September 6 at Grafton High School precedes school opening. About 3400 students are expected to enroll in county schools next Wednesday with buses running as last year. The meeting will Adjourn around 11 30 a m with teachers then returning to their schools to prepare for day one.
Three Soviet Army officers Col. Nikolai V. Kilkin Lt. Col. A N Kikiforov and Lt. Col. I Mary's School of Medical Technology and graduate of Grafton High School. She works as a medical technician at St. Mary's Hospital. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Currey, her father farms at the State Industrial School for Boys in Pruntytown. Currey will be among 38 young women in the Queen's Court, during the festival, with Mary Ann Power of Martinsburg as Queen.
The Oklahoma City weather bureau reported its roof sprang a leak during a violent thunderstorm Monday night. The incident disrupted operations but no injuries were reported. Officials praised staff for maintaining weather alerts despite the damage.
State CYF leaders gather at the First Church of Christ next to Abbe State Christian Youth Allowship Commission for a two o clock start. Rev B J Hannon and Rev Roh Valentine lead the meeting with area chairs guiding Worship Study Enlistment Service and Recreation. Col Raymond Kenny of Grafton West Virginia visited Augusta Maine and Bangor last week praising Maine and meeting The Patriot publisher Monte Bourjaily. He recalled World War I service with the 88th Aero Squadron and spoke warmly of Bar Harbor Bar Harbor and the White Mountains on a New England tour.

President Eisenhower approved emergency funds totaling 2.5 million dollars for Connecticut Massachusetts and New York to aid flood relief and ordered a high level Washington meeting with federal and state officials to coordinate further assistance. Civil Defense Administrator Val Peterson Maj General Wilton Persons and staff will participate. Peterson met with Gov Leader in Harrisburg and planned a damages survey in Scranton before returning to Washington.
