Resurfacing on Route 60 to Begin Next Monday
Harley Haller, county supervisor for the state Road Commission, announced that the long delayed resurfacing of eight miles on U. S. Route 60 from Pruntytown to Harrison county line will start next Monday morning. Anderson Company, Inc., a Va. Blackrock subsidiary, will surface Route 50 after finishing Route 60, with a two inch asphaltic concrete layer expected to take four to five weeks.

Cattle theft suspects arraigned in Elkins and two held on bonds
In Elkins an arraignment was set for three men on cattle theft charges after two others were jailed in connection with a similar case. Angelo Salgina, 98, and Jt Romano, 24, of Clarksburg. Earl Eddins, 28, of Buckhannon, face theft of 13 to 15 cattle from a Randolph county farm on July 23, while Brown and Bigler, held in Morgantown plus Brown's 18 year old wife, are accused of stealing about 60 calves from a truck along U S 19 between Fairmont and Morgantown last Tuesday. Brown and Bigler waived a preliminary hearing on an armed robbery in Morgantown.

Open Bus Line on Country Club Road Inaugurated
A new bus line from Grafton to Fairmont via Country Club and the old Fairmont Grafton road began Saturday on a 60 day temporary permit from the West Virginia Public Service Commission. Four trial round trips were run Saturday and will continue daily including Sundays. If passenger demand supports it after six days, the line may become permanent. The service opens up a favorable trading area for Grafton and meets local wishes.

District attorney seeks padlock action in Pittsburgh gambling raids

Worden's Hotel Manager Killed in Davis Car Crash
Davis, Aug 23. Paul Sam Davis, 32, manager of Worden Hotel, died after his car struck a timber rack on Route 28 nine miles west of Petersburg. Coroner Dr. C H Parks said he died of a broken neck. His widow Aldeane Davis was hospitalized in Elkins with undetermined injuries.
