Three men were killed in a night ambush in what police called gang warfare linked to a slot machine racket near Wildwood amusement resort. Officials call it incendiary with loss about 50000. Wayne Crow deputy sheriff blamed for revenge after Essell Grant and Ewing Riley were arrested. Air raid involved nine bombs dropped from a plane. Union leaders planned a meeting to discuss the situation. May resume operations at Providence Coal Mining Company No 3 after disputes.
Dr Silas C Swallow a renowned prohibitionist and militant Methodist is dead at 94. He spent over 25 years active in church and state politics across the state and campaigned for multiple public offices.
