Howard Harwood Holt 52 editor and publisher of the Grafton Sentinel died after a long illness. Funeral set for 2:30 pm at 630 Maple Ave with interment in Blue Mont Cemetery. Sentinel employees will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers named. Elks service planned with Vv. E. F. K. Roof and Rev. A. Richardson assisting. Lodge service tonight at the residence. attendees meet 7:30 pm at the Elks club. Condolences pouring in from across the state.

In Anniston Alabama a gun battle wounded four white men during a search for a negro accused of kidnapping a white baby. A 200 man posse hunted the suspect near a negro settlement five miles from town after the infant reportedly dropped when the mother struck the assailant. The mayor called it a near race riot as the search broadened to include shotgun holders.
