Arizona's greatest manhunt was suspended to allow Fernando Robles to negotiate with kidnappers holding his six year old daughter June for a $15,000 ransom. Under Sheriff Colby Farrar said safety of the child comes first as peace officers and volunteers halted the search. The family announced they were ready to negotiate. veterans on highways remained wary awaiting further orders.

Convicts Escape San Quentin Kidnap Police Hostages

Two convicts Wanda Stewart and Walter Hayeth escaped from San Quentin after slugging a guard. They seized a police car with two hostage officers inside, wielding three revolvers, two rifles, a knife, and a shotgun, as a nationwide manhunt commenced.

Three New Schools In County May Be Erected

Charleston April 27 Trent, West Virginia school superintendent, outlines a plan to build 286 new school buildings in 55 counties at over 8 million dollars to place the state on the education front line. He urges state or federal funds and says 3 to 5 million may be spent next year, with the rest in following years. A bill seeks 75 to 100 million for state school building aims, with West Virginia backing the measure. Barbour County plans eight new schools, Berkeley two. Continued on page four.

Family Saved From Burning Home This A.M.

A five room cottage at 463 West Francis Street occupied by W. C. Boreman of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad was nearly gutted by fire this morning. Patrolman J. C. Helms discovered the blaze at 5 o'clock as he headed to shut off the booster pump at the new municipal reservoir on North Grafton hill. The fire broke through the back porch wall when found. The Boreman family slept through the alarm and were awakened by the officer before firefighters arrived, but the flames had already made headway. The rear portion of the cottage was gutted. firemen fought to control the blaze. (Continued on Page Five).

A 60 year old grandfather Charles Outlaw was executed in Huntsville Texas for the hammer slaying of Mrs. Frank McCall, 58, last January. He walked to the chair and told the warden I did not do it.

Earnings of B and C reveal big increase

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad reports improved conditions with March operating income rising to 2,512,436 from 995.55 in the previous year. Operating revenues reach 12,714,592 versus 8,516,370 last March, while expenses climb to 9,811,266 from 6,486,539, yielding a net railway operating income of 3,403,326 after deductions of 890,800.

Law Banning Four In Front Seat Explained By Judge

Justice Ona C Jefferys urged the State Road Commission rule clarifying that no more than three persons may ride in the front seat with the operator. Three violators have appeared in court, with foggy understanding of the regulation, issued February 26 1934 and effective April 1 1934. Fear Geneva arms parley will flop

Washington April 27 A discouraging report on prospects for the Geneva disarmament conference was given to President Roosevelt by Norman H Davis special U S envoy. The administration keeps a watchful waiting policy regarding Japan and its assertion of dominion in the orient. The Geneva conference tentatively plans to reconvene May 29 and Davis said he has no immediate plan to return to Geneva while Hull accompanied him to the White House.
